- Sobey is founded in Chengdu and co-develops China's first nonlinear editing system with CCTV, filling a domestic gap.
2003
- A strategic partnership with Sony carries Sobey's technology and business onto the global stage.
- Delivers CCTV's news-sharing system — a domestic breakthrough in large-scale networked television production.
2008
- Releases the AMFS media file system.
- Builds CCTV's HD networked production system for the Beijing Olympics.
2012
- Progressively buys back Sony's stake, leading the localization of media technology as a national enterprise.
- Wins the National Science & Technology Progress Award, First Prize.
2016
- The Media Hive architecture wins the IABM Peter Wayne Award and is recognized by international peers as pointing the way for the industry.
- Forms a joint venture with Alibaba to build hybrid-cloud services.
- Establishes the Media Intelligence Lab.
2018
- Builds CCTV's Global News Cloud — at the time the world's largest cloud-native video-data solution.
- Delivers Reuters' global cloud-production project, a benchmark for public-cloud media production.
2019
- Enters a comprehensive strategic partnership with Huawei Cloud, jointly developing a video-data PaaS.
- Builds the intelligent news-production system for the 70th National Day.
2020

- Releases SUVC, a broadcast-grade ultra-HD video codec.

- Builds the 8K production system for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
- The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approves the National Ultra-HD Video Innovation Center, led by Sichuan Xinshichuangwei.

- Drives the radio & TV administration's self-controlled “Light-Compression Video Coding” industry standard, with SUVC layered light-compression adopted as the standard.
